Biography:

Grandmaster John Mac passion for Martial Arts started when his father inspired him to do boxing, because his grandfather was a Boxing Champion. He later joined a couple of sessions in Karate adult class when he was just 6 years old.

From that moment, he had a great interest in Martial Arts, but he got really fascinated by traditional weapons, because most of his child friends played with hand-made weapons, like bottle top gun, bamboo gun, sticks and Bolos.

Then he heard about Doce Pares and the legendary name of SGM Ciricaco “Cacoy” Cañete. Master Uwe Schwarz the Cacoy Doce Pares practitioner introduced him to this style.

After graduation from the secondary school, he moved to Cebu from his hometown Malaybalay City in Bukidnon Province in a Northern Part of Mindanao Region of Philippines.

There, he continued his advanced training in the Cacoy Cañete Doce Pares Headquarters from 1992 until now.  At the school, he became one of the longtime favorite sparring partners for the late SGM Ciriaco Cacoy Cañete, who passed away on Feb 05, 2016.

GM John Mac was elected as the Chief Instructor of the Cacoy Cañete Doce Pares and promoted to 10th Degree Black Belt Grandmaster of Cacoy Cañete Doce Pares Style.

Grandmaster John Mac trained 1000’s of students, including kids, he does lot of charity work in Cebu and he always on a mission to promote and propagate the Filipino Traditional Martial Arts.
